Onam Celebration 2022

V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education, celebrated the Festival of Onam with great grandeur and cheer. The Keralite festival commemorates good governance under the rule of Mahabali, a mythical king who ruled the state. The celebrations began with Director/Principal Prof. Irfan Mirza inaugurating the celebration by lighting the lamp. Further, the festival was led into a cultural program that consisted of various breathtaking performances by the students. That included Bharatnatyam, Thiruvathira, cultural songs, tabla performance, spot prizes, and group dances.

After which the celebration was led onto the traditional Onam meal. The Onam Sadya was put together by Chefs Sebastian Breitinger, Sujatha Madhavan, and Sandip Madkaikar along with the enthusiastic students of VMSIIHE. An array of traditional Onam dishes were prepared and served on banana leaves, leaving the guests craving more. Right from the rice and parippu curry served with a dash of ghee to the payasam, the leaf had it all and more.

The celebrations reverberated through the campus and successfully helped the students learn more about a culture other than theirs. Onam 2022 at VMSIIHE was definitely a memorable experience for all those involved.
