GOVRNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

The Scholarship Committee provides guidance to eligible students for availing benefits under various Government Scholarship Schemes. The Committee assists students through awareness, application support, and document verification to ensure timely access to financial assistance for their education.

Following are the Government Scholarship Schemes:

  • Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme (SC / ST / OBC / EBC / Minority)
  • Gagan Bharari Scholarship Scheme (SC / ST / OBC – Dhangar)
  • Merit Based Scholarship Scheme (SC / ST / OBC – Dhangar)
  • Bursary Scheme (All Categories)
  • Interest Free Education Loan Scheme (All Categories)
  • Scholarship Scheme for Students with Disabilities (All Categories)

VMSIIHE MERIT-CUM-MEANS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR UG STUDENTS

The basic objective of the Scheme is to support the undergraduate students of V.M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education to meet their minor expenses related to their studies.

A Maximum amount of scholarship to be paid to a student shall be limited to Rs.3000/- per student.

Eligibility

  1. Bonafide undergraduate students of V.M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education shall be eligible to receive the scholarship.

 

  1. The beneficiary should have cleared his/her qualifying examination in a single attempt.

 

  1. There is no upper limit of family income for applying for the scholarship. However, the Sanctioning Committee shall be guided by the principle of merit-cum-means while selecting the students as the scholarships are limited in number.

 

  1. A student who is in receipt of any other scholarship from Govt. or from any other source shall not be eligible to receive the scholarship.

MARTINHAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

  1. The scholarship is instituted by The Martinhal Group –Portugal, exclusively to the students of V.M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education, so that the students will acquire professional future in the Portugal hospitality industry.

 

  1. The scholarship is applicable to students of B.Sc. IHM and B.Sc. Culinary Arts students pursuing three year degree program batch 2025-2028 for the academic year 2025-2026.

 

  1. The institute reserves the right in shortlisting the candidates for the scholarship program.

 

  1. The student will receive a scholarship of 7,500/- Euros i.e approximately 50% of the total fees payable by the student towards three year course of study at the institute.

 

  1. Martinhal Group will disburse the following payments to the students as below:-
  2. 80% of 7,500 Euros per student will be payable in three installments during the three-year course.
  3. 20% of 7,500 Euros per student will be payable once the student takes up the work placement at Martinhal.

 

  1. The student will be required to open a bank account and other formalities as per banking guidelines, for receiving the scholarship amount.

 

  1. It shall be mandatory for the student to undergo six months internship at Martinhal hotel during the course of study.

 

  1. On completion of the third year of studies the student shall be required to undergo a two year placement at Martinhal Hotel.

 

  1. If Martinhal does not have the availability to place the candidates in its own businesses, then the Martinhal Group shall make the internship and work placement available in a third party hospitality business in Portugal.

 

  1. On obtaining the scholarship, if a student decides not to do the internship or placement in Portugal, for whatever reasons may be, the student will have to refund the scholarship amount to the Martinhal Group.

 

  1. The student shall be required to take up Portuguese language classes at least twice a week at the Institute, so that  the student  achieves a basic level of Portuguese proficiency by the end of the 3-year course.

 

  1. Martinhal Group shall always be entitled not to accept a particular student at its own discretion.

 

  1. The student will have to adhere to the rules and regulations and expectations of the Martinhal Group.
  1. Portuguese Language Fluency: Scholarship recipients are required to achieve fluency in the Portuguese language within two years of commencing the course.
  2. Internship and Placement Scope: Internships and placements will be facilitated within hotels, resorts, or individual units such as restaurants, bars (food and beverage outlets).
