This is a proven fact as knowledge, experience and skills are proportional to each other. More the knowledge, the more is the experience and hence increased levels of skills.
How can a hospitality business integrate technology into its operations? How can a state formulate sustainable tourism policies? How can we use qualitative and quantitative metrics to predict trends and patterns which will impact business? All this and more is covered in V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education’s newest offering – M.Sc. International Hospitality and Tourism Management (M.Sc. IHTM). The first of its kind in the state, the Master’s Program is affiliated with Goa University.
Why opt for a M.Sc. International Hospitality and Tourism Management one may ask?
With the increasing technological advancements in a highly competitive era, one needs to stand out among the rest. A Master’s degree can offer that edge, says Dr. Deepti Jog, Assistant Professor at V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education, one of the top hotel management institutes in the country.
At VMSIIHE the emphasis is on “learning by doing” according to Dr. Jog. Practical experiences, industry exposure, interactions with visiting and guest faculty and industry internships go a long way in imbibing a professional outlook. The top-notch, highly skilled faculty members at VMSIIHE lay emphasis on the development of varied skill sets such as leadership, creativity, problem-solving, customer service, social skills, interpersonal communication and other related skills.
“The programme involves the extensive application of case-based learning, seminars, professional internship, assignments both at individual and group levels and intensive exposure to the actual business problems through industry projects. The students are encouraged to creatively think about business situations, proactively anticipate issues and problems, and innovatively deal with them such that they are fully prepared to plunge into the business world to make a challenging professional career, “explains Dr. Jog.
A B.Sc. degree program offers an in-depth learning experience on the nuances of the hospitality course but it is the M.Sc. degree program that takes that learning experience a notch or two higher.
Explains Dr. Jog, “The two-year degree program follows a credit-based system with 64 credits spread over the two year period. Of these, 40 credits are assigned to the core courses, which also includes an Internship that carries 8 credits. The balance of 24 credits are assigned to the optional courses. Each credit comprises 12 hours of teaching.”
The programme is divided into four semesters. The first two semesters have compulsory courses while the third and fourth semesters will have a combination of core and optional courses. The internship is to be undertaken at the beginning of the fourth semester.
Any candidate who possesses a degree B.Sc.
